Apostle Raymond Moss, Sr.
“Hell is too hot. Eternity is too long. Heaven is too sweet to miss!”
He founded and established Back to the Bible Holiness Church (BTTB( in 1959 with house-to-house prayer meetings. As prayer meetings and followers grew, he sought a building and the first BTTB church building was a small frame building adjacent to the railroad tracks on Tower Road. Shortly thereafter, BTTB was relocated to a wood framed building across the street at 601 Tower Rd and the Lord was fit to grow BTTB to include 13 affiliate churches including what now remains Back to the Bible Holiness Church, Inc at 690 New Street where the pastor is Bobby Wright.
Apostle Moss was a dynamic man of God that preached fire and brimstone like few others. His fervent desire for the salvation of souls and Bible-based living continues to be the foundation upon which Pastor Wright is building.
Bishop John Cooper
The Jesus Man
Bishop John Cooper received salvation at the age of 21 at Pittsburgh Temple Church of God in Christ. After being appointed a Deacon, he began to preach the Word of God and began a tent ministry in “Plunkett Town” in Hapeville, GA. In 1972, he moved into the Valleyview Church of God in Christ which is where Pastor Wright received salvation and was a member for many years.
Apostle Johnnie L. Washington
Spiritual Leader. Church Builder. Traveling Evangelist
He was the founder of The Tabernacle Of Prayer For All People in Jamaica, New York. Starting from humble beginnings, preaching his first sermon at The St. Mary Church in Brooklyn, he went on to form his first church at a building in the Red Hook section of the city. After a few years Apostle Washington began a tent ministry and traveled with the gospel tent starting again in Brooklyn on the corner of Eastern Parkway and Hopkins Avenue.
In the fall of 1977, a 3,500 plus seating capacity renovated building was completed for worship. This great edifice would often be packed for services as thousands would gather for the many assemblies and special services hosted by the senior pastor. From the backroads of the Mississippi Delta to New York, The Apostle made an impact in the religious field. The organization of many churches and ministries can be traced to the leadership and missions started by him. Spreading the message by way of radio and television was a mandate that he carried out reaching the faithful from coast to coast with daily broadcasts.
Thousands of people and tens of thousands were prayed for and saved under the leadership of the man with a heart of gold and a love for God's people. He was a great teacher as well as a great singer and could bring the house down with the sounds of gospel tunes. Many of his songs and sermons are still heard today as he remains a popular figure in the field of religion. After a brief illness the "Man After God's Own Heart" passed away in 1986, leaving a road map for others to follow and complete the work that he started.
As a young saint, Pastor Wright listened to countless cassette tapes and broadcasts of Apostle Johnnie Washington. The familiar sound of Apostle Washington's voice rings clear, even now, in the memories of his children as the cassettes were common to be heard during family road trips and outings. The familiar “Uncloudy Day” and “In the Tabernacle” gospel songs take us back to old-time holiness which remains the foundation of the Back to the Bible Holiness Church, Inc.
